TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The best relationships start out with a clear and mutual understanding. Read through these terms and conditions to understand how we will work together to produce your voice projects.
HOW WE CHARGE
Skilled Voices charges initially by word-count and additional items add to the price. Things like background music, multiple voices, character voices, commercial and broadcast rights, express delivery, etc. add to the cost. You can fill out our quote form to see what your project will cost.
Simply answer the questions the best you can, and we will send you a custom quote. Don’t worry. If there is anything we need to know, we’ll ask. If there is anything you want to know, just ask us. We pride ourselves on being easy to work with.
TYPES OF FILES WE PROVIDE
It is standard practice to provide you with mp3 files, wav files, or links to files. If there is another format you prefer, just let us know. In most cases, we can provide the files to you in the format you desire. If we cannot, we will let you know before we begin your project.
CORRECTIONS (mistakes we make)
Corrections for errors we make are included in the quoted price. This means that if we didn’t read your script properly, the music bed was louder than what you wanted, you noticed we said the wrong words; we correct these errors at no charge to you. You hired a professional voice person and you deserve professional results. We want to make sure you are happy with your project.
CHANGES (things you want changed)
A little preparation will save you time and money. We highly recommend that you proof read your script before final submission. Make sure we have the information we need to produce the results you want. Give us all the information you think we need to produce your project. The following would be considered changes:
- pronunciation changes (see PRONUNCIATION GUIDES below)
- changes you want to the tone
- change from male to female voice or vice-versa
- changes you make to your script after we have completed the project
All of these would require us to record your project again and you will be charged extra for this. Put simply, we are happy to make any changes you need. The changes you make will cost you; the errors we make will not cost you.
This is important if we are to produce a finished project you love. You need to give us a proper pronunciation guide for things such as: business names, product names, names in general, cities, streets, countries, abbreviations, acronyms, or anything else that is special to your project.
We get scripts from all over the world, and we may not be familiar with pronunciations where you are from. Additionally, every industry has their own terminology and pronunciation of words.
A pronunciation guide can be either written or recorded; whichever is easiest for you. It should be submitted when you place your order. If we are given a pronunciation guide, we are responsible for saying the words correctly and corrections would not cost you money. Without this guide, anything you want recorded again would be considered changes and would be at a cost to you.
Our typically turnaround is just a few days. In many cases, we return your project sooner than this. If your project has a very tight deadline, we offer express 24-hour delivery for a fee. Express delivery moves you ahead of all other projects, except other express projects that we received before yours. There may be times when express delivery is not available. We will tell you if we can’t offer express delivery when you place your order.
As you can imagine, we are a service and not a product. If we have finished your project, we took our time to produce your job. That is time we can’t get back. Therefore, we do not offer refunds. However, we want you to be satisfied with your final product and will work within the parameters described above to revise your project should you not be satisfied with it.
LICENSES (USAGE FEES)
There are 2 types of licenses for our voice over work:
- Standard Non-Commercial License
- Broadcast and Commercial License
License fees (sometimes also known as usage fees) are fees payable to Skilled Voices, LLC for the use of the voice over projects they create for you.
So, why do you need to purchase a license? Well, Skilled Voices, LLC is not just the talent, we are also the producer, which gives us the rights of ownership under US law. Since we are producing this work for you, we want you to have all the appropriate rights to use it. You simply need to select the correct rights based on how you will use the voice over production and those rights will be granted to you. Failure to indicate accurately on the quote and order forms how the production will be used, could result in you not being granted the appropriate rights of usage. It is in your best interest to be as accurate as possible to protect your rights.
We have made licensing very simple. If you order a voice recording for use solely within your own organization, for example a staff training film or phone system greeting, then this type of project would require a Standard Non-Commercial License and there is no additional fee for this type of license. It is included with the production cost of your project.
Whereas if a recording is commissioned for use in the public domain, then our Broadcast and Commercial License would be required. This type of license has a fee payable to Skilled Voices, LLC. This fee is reasonable and will show up on your quote. The public domain includes all instances where the voice recording is accessible by the public in some way. Examples include TV shows, films, commercials, radio broadcasts, public websites, and in-flight presentations. Usage fees are also payable for recordings used in video games, in-store broadcasts, exhibitions, events, and museum audio tours.
Unless clearly stated otherwise in the project description text, when the work is delivered, and payment has been received, Skilled Voices, LLC assigns to the buyer, to the fullest extent possible under the law, all of its rights, title and interest, if any, in and to the delivered service and waives any and all moral rights in connection therewith. For removal of doubt, the delivered and paid for voice over project shall be the exclusive property of the buyer.
There is no warranty, express or implied, with the purchase of voice over recordings, including with respect to fitness for a particular purpose. Skilled Voices, LLC will not be liable for any claims, incidental or consequential, or other damages arising out of this license, the voice over recording, or your use of the voice over recording.
